Sensory Bottles

So I've recently developed a Pinterest addiction, lagging behind my peers I know. The subject of my addiction varies from food to cleaning tips and clothes I'll never wear, but Killian is always a constant focus as well. Early on in my searches, I found a link to "sensory bottles," which is a fancy way of saying " a plastic bottle filled with water, oil, or corn syrup and random visually appealing crap." I had a blast making the ones that I did and can't wait to make more, especially WITH Killian when he is older. Here is what I did:

1- locate smallish plastic bottles with lids; I dug through our recycling. Clean them. I picked off the labels and then used Goo Gone to eliminate the stickum left on the bottles.

2- fill bottles partially with water or baby oil. You can use corn syrup if you want things to tumble slower inside the bottles.

3- drop in items. I used pony beads, dice, pencil toppers and erasers, glitter pom poms, and cut up gift ribbon. Supervise carefully if small hands are helping.

4- finish filling the bottles up with liquid.

5- use glue around the edge of the bottle top and then screw on the lid. I used Gorilla Glue, but super glue or hot glue would likely be fine. You just font want small hands to open the bottles.

6- let glue set.

7- let play ensue!

Here is a photo of my currently completed set, thought I plan to make a few more with glitter, oil and water mixed, food coloring, etc. I have a gift ribbon that I will use with oil since there is a wire running through it and I think I'll make another with some fake fall leaves and stones.
